Some Sad News...

Isla attended her yearly eye test and gonioscopy today. She passed both with flying colours, but has unfortunately been found to have cataracts. This is unheard of in ESS and is therefore not tested for. For this reason the mode of inheritence is unknown and with the possibilty of it being hereditary, I've been advised not to breed from Isla. I will be following this advice and Isla will remain a much loved and pampered pet.

Isla will continue to have a yearly test to track the disease. Her eye sight is unaffected at present and long may it stay that way. Only time will tell. DNA swabs have been taken from Isla and sent to another eye specialist in an effort ot help them with their research into cataracts in Labrador Retievers.

We have a lot to think about over the coming weeks, but for the time being we're just going to enjoy Isla for what she is - a mad, crazy Springer!
